The joint design of XTOPIX and Land05 studio for revitalisation of Husovo Square in Lysa nad Labem was awarded the 1st place. The winning design was chosen out of eleven architectural studies presented to Lysa nad Labem Town Competition Committee.
The current parking lot in the middle of the town square will be transformed into a multifunctional open public space. This is to create a barrier free pedestrian zone and enable the consolidation of the town square into a large open area for multipurpose use and enjoyment of all.
In our design we have incorporated the historical baroque landscape footprint, legacy of Earl of Spork. Fragments of the original baroque landscape and the historical footprint of the river Labe will be imprinted into the town square paving stones. The shallow imprint of the Labe river bed will be capturing rain water and serve as an artificial canal to bring water from the pumps located in the corner of the town square for kids to enjoy. Rainwater and water from the pumps will then be channelled under the bosquet and used to irrigate mature trees.
The architectural design is trying to incorporate the historical treasures left behind by previous generations, to show local identity and ensure that architectural and ecological aspects of sustainable development are respected. By being mindful of these we hope the town square to become the perfect image of the town itself
