'Svatopluka Cecha' Square - 3rd place in arch. competition

Motto:

'Svatopluk Cech' Square - A place where I live and where life happens. 
A place for events, spending time and relaxation, for young and old alike.
A place for those who live here and those who arrive by tram. ??
A square for the whole neighbourhood and a park where I feel at home. ?

The main pillars of our design:

Connectivity and freedom of movement: We are removing barriers and opening up generous views of Gočár’s church. We are creating a space for those who live here as well as those who have just stepped off the tram.
Two worlds in one: An imaginary line divides the park square into a peaceful local park and a lively neighbourhood square.
Life and culture: In the neighbourhood square, we propose a lawn for gathering and Prague 10 events, complemented by a new amphitheatre.
A new café: In the south-western part, we sensitively position a café with understated architecture that does not compete with the church. It will offer both peaceful seating and quick refreshments for passers-by in a hurry.
Facilities by the playgrounds: In the northern part of the park, we propose storage areas with toilets, practically embedded in the slope right next to the children’s playgrounds.

Climate adaptation and recreation ?

The overall landscape design responds to the need for everyday recreation while also working at a city-wide scale. It integrates climate-change adaptation principles and supports rainwater management. New trees will naturally be added, primarily in the northern part of the park. Here, their crowns will form a ‘tree canopy’, providing shade that helps create a pleasant microclimate and cool the city.

The result is a park for the entire neighbourhood—a place for events, spending time and relaxation.
